The Alpine Meadows project is within the busy Highway 89S corridor, south of the Town of Truckee to the eastern boundary of the community of Alpine Meadows. This corridor contains critical infrastructure including private residences, commercial development, the Eastern Regional Landfill, and significant recreation such as developed campgrounds, trails, and rock climbing destinations. Highway 89S is a key transportation corridor between Lake Tahoe and Interstate 80. To enhance public safety, reduce potential wildfire severity, and restore forest health in this area, the project will complete forest restoration, fuels reduction, and habitat enhancement.
